2004 - Breakthrough season highlighted
by first Grand Slam title and Top 5。ranked
and seeded No.9 in just 10th career Grand
Slam at US Open,becoming lowest rank and
seed to win there in Open Era。Afterwards
(September 20) made Top 5 debut at No.5;
In Beijing defeated Wimbledon champion
Sharapova in SF, but lost to top seed
S.Williams.
2005 - Strong results early in season
followed by disappointing second half;
reached QF or better at seven of first
11 events. Reaching lone final of season
at Warsaw, SF at Tokyo [Pan Pacific],
and QF four times, at Australian Open
and Wimbledon. Poor showing in six events
contested after Wimbledon, and falling
in opening match three times, incl. US
Open.(became first defending champion
there in Open Era to lose 1r).
2006 - reached 4r at Australian Open;
Impressive week in Dubai, reaching second
Tour singles SF of season; Spectacular
fortnight in Miami, capturing sixth career
Tour singles title (first Tier I); spectacular
fortnight at Roland Garros, finishing
runner-up; afterwards on June 12, moved
from No.10 to No.6, her highest ranking
since the 2005 US Open fortnight (No.5);
upset in 3r at Wimbledon.
